With the costs of funding a three-year university course now amounting to well over £30,000, it is probably unrealistic to expect any children you have at university to leave with no debts at all. Indeed, as a yardstick, it is useful to be aware that the average student starting college in 2011 is expected to graduate with debts of around £22,000. Costs are likely to rise further, as the Government looks to reduce its higher education expenditure.
